Our Local Government, Planning and Environmental Law team is the only law firm in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region ever to win an Australian Law Award when it was awarded the prestigious Mazda Environment Award at the Australian Legal Awards conducted by the Lawyers Weekly at the Westin Hotel in Sydney in 2005.

 

This team became the only legal team of a country firm in Australia to be awarded an Australian Law Award at the ceremony.

 

The highly prestigeous awards are intended to reflect excellence within the legal profession. The winners were selected by a secret ballot of Solicitors and other consumers of legal services.

 

This award recognised that our team demonstrated the ability to provide both private and government clients excellent advice on compliance with environmental regulations and legislation, as well as policy advice to Government and Industry groups. This advice ranges from prosecutions, commercial agreements, contaminated lands, approvals and licences, to interpretation of legislation and common law liabilities,as well as the provision of contractual documentation for the development and management of lands sales.

 

The nominated firms ranged from large corporate firms in Sydney to small country firms from all across New South Wales. Our teams commitment to our clients and a focus on excellent service have really paid off, as we were voted number one across the nation.

 

With one of the states few Accredited Specialist in Local Government and Planning Law and with a record of providing specialist advice to Councils, Developers and Environmental groups on Environment, Local Government and Planning Law over the last 33 years, this Award recognised our Local Government, Planning and Environmental Law divisions commitment, skill and excellence in this field.
