What is Exchange of Contracts?

Exchange of Contracts takes place when a Contract signed by the Purchaser is handed to the Vendors Solicitor in exchange for a Contract signed by the Vendor, the deposit is paid and the Contract is dated.

The Contract is binding on the Vendor from exchange and is binding on the Purchaser from exchange or at the expiration of the cooling off period if the cooling off period has not been waived.
