Do I need Home Warranty Insurance?

If a dwelling was erected or alterations or additions carried out on the property within the last six years at a cost in excess of $12,000.00(current as at 1 April 2005) -

  1. by a Licensed builder/tradesman you should have been provided with a Certificate of Home Warranty Insurance
  2. by you as Owner/Builder you must obtain Home Warranty Insurance prior to entering into a Contract to sell the property

You can be fined should you fail to comply with this Act.

There are some conditions and exemptions.

You should discuss this with US.
